FLAT
MAGNETIC SCREENS
|
MMT Company has developed
universal flat magnetic units of several typical sizes that
produce strong and high gradient magnetic fields. These
units can be easily mounted as additional magnetic barrage
in existing product pipelines or used in development of
new magnetic barrage systems e.g., for grain-collecting
stations.

Figure 3 shows a flat magnetic unit that produces an alternating
magnetic field. Such units can be assembled into magnetic
screens of any size. The product to be purified from the
magnetic particles flows over the screen, while the magnetic
particles are detained on the screen surface. In this case
the separator does not hinder the free flow of the product.
On the other hand, the efficiency of such a separator depends
strongly on the thickness of the product flow, because the
ability of the screen to detain magnetic particles decreases
fast with the distance from the screen.
Design of the magnetic system of the units makes longitudinal
mounting of the units preferable (i.e. the product flow
should be oriented along the 300 mm side of the unit).
The efficiency of the magnetic particles detainment by the
screen type separators can be greatly increased if a couple
of such screens are mounted in the product flow as shown
in Figure 4. In this case the magnetic
field acts on the flow from both sides. Such setup is used
for wooden chips purification in resin-bonded chipboard
production, in grain industry, large confectioneries and
bakeries (see Photos 3, 4, and 5).

Such magnetic units (see the paper of A.
Ravdin and A. Dormidontov et.al.) are mounted in
new magnetic separators produced by the Stock Company «ЦНИИпромзернопроект».
The separators of types MCC1, MCC3, MCH2, MCH3 have the output
of 175, 100, 100, and 50 tons per hour, respectively. The
first two models are designed for mounting in the lines of
self-flowing grain transport along the inclined sections.
The length of the separators is 600 mm and 800 mm,
respectively, and the size of the flow cross-section is 350x350 mm).
Magnetic separators of the types MCH2 and MCH3 are designed
for mounting as the receiving trays of elevator boots of the
type П-100, П-50.
